How the Todd Law Firm is different

Our "different" approach:
fewer cases = more time for you

At the Todd Law Firm we do not rely on a high volume of cases and we don't handle every type of case. We don't want to. We don't need to.

My name is David Todd and I am a divorce attorney and family law lawyer in Austin, Texas. Since 1989 I have helped Texans facing divorce, custody, modification and other family law issues resolve their cases so they can move on with their lives.  I truly enjoy helping those facing these life-changing decisions. At the Todd Law Firm, we accept a limited number of serious family law cases every year out of the many people who ask us to represent them. We do not operate a "high volume, take anything that comes through the door" type of family law practice. We give personal attention to the few cases we do accept.

I personally negotiate with the opposing family law attorney. I personally try the cases that go to court. Taking a select few of the family cases that come through our door allows us to spend more time on each case and, we believe, obtain better results.

Just because you have a family law dispute does not always mean you need a family law attorney (or any attorney, for that matter). If we believe you are better off handling the case yourself or going to mediation without counsel, we will tell you so. Also, if we believe you have a claim that you cannot win, we will tell you that, too.

However, if you have a claim that passes our standards for acceptance, your case will receive my personal attention. I will aggressively represent you, keep you informed on the status of your case and give you honest advice as to whether you should settle your case or take it to trial.

Before we do any work in your case, we will explain all fees and costs, and the agreement will be spelled out in writing so there are no misunderstandings, and so you can ask any questions you may have. If you choose to hire us and if we choose to accept your case, we work with you as a team to obtain the best possible results for you. Also, if we accept your case and eventually receive an offer of settlement, we will explain before you accept the offer exactly how the settlement would work, so you can make an informed decision regarding whether or not to settle your claim.

Why should you hire us?

Approachable, Responsive and Client-Oriented Service

We take pride in our commitment to providing client-oriented divorce, custody modification and other family law case services as well as in our thorough handling of each client’s case. From our initial family law attorney consultation through the completion of your case, whether by way of negotiation, mediation or litigation, we offer prompt, personal attention as we work for excellent results for our clients. Former clients have said we were approachable, responsive, efficient and effective in providing quality legal representation and accurate guidance.

Unlike many family law firms, we do not accept and try to manage hundreds of cases of the time. We carefully select a few cases and then work hard to maximize the result for our clients.

Some divorce attorneys and family law lawyers who advertise for family law work have so many cases that none of the cases receive enough of their personal attention. And some attorneys never take cases to trial. If the case cannot be settled, these attorneys try to refer the case out to be tried by someone else. It is important that you ask questions and understand your attorney's approach to your case before you make the decision to hire them.

We decline many cases each year in order to devote our time and efforts to a select few good cases. By accepting only a few carefully chosen cases, we are able to give these cases our personal attention. If we do not accept your case, we will be glad to provide you information and refer you to another attorney who may be able to help you.

We concentrate our efforts on a few legitimate cases, and work hard to fully understand the details of each case as well as our client's needs. That way, we are able to focus on getting the best results for our clients.

I invite you to contact us for an evaluation of your family law case.  At the Todd Law Firm, we truly enjoy helping Texans resolve their divorce, custody, modification and other family law disputes so they can move on with their lives. We will give you an honest assessment of your situation. We will provide you with all the information concerning costs and fees before you make a decision regarding hiring us. If your case meets our criteria for acceptance, you can rest assured that you and your case will receive my personal attention. We will work with you as a team in preparing your case for settlement or trial. If it goes to trial, I will be the attorney trying your case.  I look forward to hearing from you soon.

If you are facing a Texas divorce, custody or modification case, protect yourself and your family.
